First FF game I've ever played and it's quite different from what i'm accustomed, Final Fantasy I feel is like, the rawest form of RPG, but it still is charming.
Just beat the game in 12 hours and it was pretty easy for most of the time, though, I had to beat it with a guide/walkthrough because, you know how like, "hardcore gamers" say: "yea i love dark souls because it doesn't hold my hand". Final Fantasy REALLY does not hold your hand, in each town there's one or two NPCs that hardly give you directions, and when the whole map is filled with random encounters it's really hard to go out of your way to explore and look around.
What made me ignore the boring random encounters was the beautiful spritework that the Pixel Remaster team did in the game and the OST that was really really good (Some highlights being the song from Western Keep and from Sunken Shrine, also the music for the bosses).
Also, what added some variety to the gameplay was the Pixel Remaster's settings that let you hear the old versions of the songs and some modifiers you could add to the game.
Overall a decent game, I liked it but I fully understand ehy people might not like it, sometimes it feels a bit dated, but it really shines, especially nowadays, it's refreshing to go back to play something simpler.
